The milestones in Emirates' incredible journey
On 25 October 1985, Emirates flew its first routes from Dubai with just two aircraft--a leased Boeing 737 and an Airbus 300 B4.
Our goal was quality, not volume. And in recent years since taking these first tiny steps onto the regional travel scene, we've evolved into a globally influential tourism and travel pioneer known all over the world for our commitment to quality.
With a fleet of over 265 aircraft, we currently fly to over 155 destinations in more than 80 countries around the world. More than 1,500 Emirates flights leave Dubai per week on their way to destinations on six continents, and our network is expanding continuously. You can read on to discover more.

WORKING WITH EMIRATES
Joining our dynamic business
It goes without stating that a fast-growing airline with over 400 international awards for excellence does not attain this status without an absolutely world-class workforce.
How we operate Government affairs: Connectivity, competition and consumer choice
As the world's biggest airline globally measured by global passengers carried, Emirates plays an active role in aviation policy debates that impact the business.
Our Standing on competition, liberalization and government financial intervention in aviation is strongly focused on consumers and, in the heart of our business model, is a commitment to true international competition and open skies. The security of a federal carrier only because it carries the flag of one particular country belongs to yesteryear. Where authorities protect flag carriers, competition is weak, exporters suffer, tourism stagnates and passengers are forced to cover some of the greatest fares in the world. Robust contest allows more people to fly, and liberalized markets with open market access are inclined to be the strongest. Dubai is a long-term supporter of available markets with its very first open heavens type arrangement authorized in 1937.
Likewise, Emirates does not belong to any of those traditional alliances. We opt to chart our own potential. In April 2013 we partnered with Qantas at a codeshare partnership, arranged in such a way to maximize gains for our customers, create network and cost efficiencies for both airlines, and reinforce Dubai's standing as an international hub. We also have codeshare agreements with other carriers, for example flydubai, JetBlue, Alaska Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Korean Air, TAP Portugal and Copa Airlines.
The Environmental impact of aviation is an increasingly important subject of debate within global aviation and environmental policy, and also an area that we are actively involved in addressing. We are dedicated to getting more sustainable and enhancing our environmental performance. We also believe governments must get a better balance between incentivizing responsible corporate behavior and motivating change, and averting more punitive political and policy measures that hamper our industry's ability to invest in sustainable expansion and that unfairly impact our customers.
Thank You for taking the time to consider our views on global aviation policy. You can discover more about the most recent issues affecting the aviation business in our journal, Open Sky.

We are Part of a worldwide industry that is dedicated to reducing aviation's carbon footprint.
Aviation is one of the most important contributors to Global economic and social growth -- especially from the developing world. The aviation sector supports almost 63 million people worldwide and leads USD 2.7 trillion per annum to world GDP.
The aviation industry recognizes that, Though It's Responsible for less than 2% of carbon dioxide emissions from human action, it has to be dedicated to growing sustainably and reducing growth of its emissions. We strongly support the four-pillar strategy to decrease emissions developed by our business body -- the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Read more about this strategy at www.enviro.aero. (Opens in a new window).
We Implement this technique by employing advanced technology during our group, such as aircraft and engines; encouraging authorities to make air navigation more fuel- and - emission-friendly; decreasing the ecological impact of our ground operations; and encouraging the development of a global sectorial approach to carbon emissions throughout the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the United Nations agency for international civil aviation.
